I try to keep up with blogs that are similar to ours and a new one I am following is: A Platform for Good. These folks do great things. And their newsletter today offered a brilliant idea for parents at this holiday gift-giving time. How many of us are out right now buying tech gadgets for our kids? Have we thought about the total scope of what that technology can do? Or are we just buying the latest and greatest for our kids? The folks at A Platform for Good have created downloadable, printable, customizable cards to go with the gifts.
The cards cover the gifts of: Tablets, Smart Phones, Cell Phones, Computers and Gaming Systems. Each card covers issues like privacy, browsing, setting time limits, and other topics to keep your kids safe. And with the “fill-in the blanks” you can customize the card to fit your child’s age and add your family values. But don’t think you get off easy; you get to promise to do your part by not over-reacting, and setting a good example. After all, online safety is a partnership – and it works better when you’re in it together. The downloadable cards are PDFs and can be printed two sided, automatically print at 5″X7″ but can be manipulated. Visit A Platform for Good to download the cards.
