This article has nothing to do with Internet safety. Odd comment for a child safety site, I know. But, sometimes we just have to share something that is fun and shows how innovative the Internet can be. Just when you think you’ve seen everything you need to see online – here comes Pinterest. In just the last 3 or 4 days, I’ve heard this site mentioned on the radio, in 2 different magazines and on another website. So, curiousity got the best of me and I had to check it out. I don’t know about you, but I am continually cutting out articles, recipes (and I don’t really cook), DIY projects and “ideas” for things I want to do around my house. Now there is a place to not only store those ideas (get rid of the clutter), but to share with other like minded “clippers”.
Pinterest is a Virtual Pinboard.
Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes.
Best of all, you can browse pinboards created by other people. Browsing pinboards is a fun way to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests. To get started, request an invite.
Our goal is to connect everyone in the world through the ‘things’ they find interesting. We think that a favorite book, toy, or recipe can reveal a common link between two people. With millions of new pins added every week, Pinterest is connecting people all over the world based on shared tastes and interests.
As with all cool sites online – remember to protect your identity, don’t overshare personal information and use caution when something looks too good to be true. Hopefully this is just a really cool site where you can connect with great ideas and people just like you!
