Banking Safety

Nonprofits are on constant lookout for funding, and INOBTR is no different. But, early this week I attended a Grant meeting at Wells Fargo Gives. In the course of learning how to apply for a grant, I also found out that Wells Fargo is the THIRD most charitable organization in the United States, giving MILLIONS of dollars each year to nonprofits and the communities they serve. From Disaster Relief and Rebuilding to Education, they are serving the public in ways you and I never see or hear. In 2016, over 82,000 of their employees volunteered over 1.73 million hours in their communities. I was really impressed with their concern for the communities they serve. They also create Signature Programs that can be used nationwide.

One such FREE program is called Hands on Banking. This program is great for individuals who just want better advice about their finances, but can also be used by educators as classroom lessons for children and teens. Check it out – it’s free – no obligation to Wells Fargo, other than helping promote a smarter and more financially sound community.

This program is available online and mobile, including printed Instructor Guides, with courses for kids, teens, young adults and adults. There is section for entrepreneurs and special lessons for members of the military, seniors and their families. The lessons are available in English and Spanish and are designed for individual or classroom learning. They align with state and national educational standards for math, reading and economics. And I tested it out and they are easy to navigate, could be fun to present or use as an interactive lesson with a group you know. Great to see an organization with real commitment to the community and their consumers.
