Black Friday, Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday – oh my! We are driven by media aren’t we? And yet, we hate to be left out…
In your frenzied days of getting ready for the holidays, please take a moment for yourselves and for those less fortunate. We’re not blind to the fact that everyone is making a pitch for your hard earned money at this time. It has been said that your charitable contributions will mean more this year than next due to potential tax changes. I don’t know if that is true, but I do know that all charities need your help. We are all dealing with declining federal funding, corporations being bought out, and increasing needs for members of our community.
We all choose charities close to our hearts but please look at the children in our community. Let’s face it – they live in a world fueled by technology – it is where they get their news, share their dreams and opinions, do their homework, and unfortunately find their worth. We have to help them see that they are more than the sum of their Instagram followers. We have to teach them to make smart choices both online and in the real world. And, we have to teach them that bullies shouldn’t win.
Won’t you give to the children of our community this year? Help us teach them how to use technology for good, to treat others the way they want to be treated, and to protect themselves from scammers who would prey on the most vulnerable of our society. No donation is too small and all of the money goes back into our programming. Help us make a difference.
