Bullying Online or Off

Teasing vs bullying, what’s the difference? Is it ever ok?

While the person doing the teasing may think there’s a difference between it and bullying, they may be the only one to think so. Psychology Today notes that often, the person being teased and those witnessing it often find the line between the two blurred, or even nonexistent. And if its done in a mean spirit or meant to cause pain or harm – IT’S BULLYING!  It’s most important to remember:

  1. Never take part by forwarding, altering or sharing the bad comments or pictures posted by others.
  2. Stand up for the victim by refusing to take part and standing up to the bully.
  3. Report it – you can help the victim by coming forward and standing by him or her.
  4. If you are being bullied, remember the person who is bullying you online is a coward and a fake – hiding his or her own insecurities and inadequacies by picking on you.
  5. IF YOU HAVE TO TEAR SOMEONE DOWN TO BUILD YOURSELF UP – YOU’VE GOT IT ALL WRONG!
