Protect Your Kids

In my daily work, I do a lot of research trying to keep up with what’s going on in this technology-fueled world. The other day I read that according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, there are currently 391 missing children in our state. Can you imagine the agony these families are dealing with? What really struck me was that most of them had no “missing children poster” created. This made me remember that I hadn’t posted links to Child ID kits in a while. So here it is: Child ID Kit .  This is available in both English and Spanish and everyone should take advantage of this resource from NetSmartz. Or, here are several forms from the FBI. Regardless of which kit you use – you should keep one of these on each of your children and update them yearly. Hopefully you will never have to use these kits, but if the worst happens – you’ll be prepared.

This made me think of some other resources that I’ve seen lately and haven’t taken the time to share. But what better to do on a Friday afternoon than share ways that families can help keep their kids safe?!

Talk to your teens about Sexting  from our friends at NetSmartz. Speaking of NetSmartz – share this fun Internet Safety Video with your younger children:

And finally, have a safe weekend. Take a tip from Dr. Michele Borba @micheleborba

I’m on @foxandfriends urging families to go #darkfordinner – turn off digital devices & create more family memories.

Couldn’t agree more – spend some real family time this weekend – without technology. It will all still be there when you return. BE SAFE!
