Today is Pay It Forward Day

I just got a message from our friends at A Platform for Good

“Today is Pay It Forward Day – the perfect opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life.”  There was a brief reminder of the stories we’ve read online about people doing good lately. And I was reminded of the stories I’ve heard about people taking care of total strangers in the worst of situations, of donations coming in to support a newly married couple whose lives have been changed dramatically, of a small town coming together to grieve the loss of neighbors and whole parts of their community, yet continuing to support one another or of a young girl who stopped me in the middle of an Internet Safety presentation and said, “But aren’t there truly more good people in the world than bad?” Never truer words and from the voice of a hopeful child…

This from Nicole at A Platform for Good:

To continue spreading the good – and in honor of Pay It Forward Day –we’ve put together five simple ways you can help make a difference digitally.

1. Thank someone you admire. Whether it’s an old grade school teacher, a co-worker,or a parent – reach out and thank someone who’s made a positive difference in your life.

2. Compliment a friend online. We all send millions of messages online each day. How about using one of your messages or posts to compliment or celebrate a friend?

3. Start a blog. There are lots of ways to connect with people online. Starting a blog is a great way to build a community, share your expertise with others, and spread positivity.

4. Become a virtual volunteer. It’s easier than ever to find opportunities to do good, especially online. Find a cause you believe in and lend a helping hand!

5. Send a text message to an old friend. Have a friend or loved one you’ve been meaning to get in touch with? Don’t wait. Now’s the perfect time. Send a quick text and ask how they’re doing.

These are just a few ideas, but really the possibilities are endless. So, how will you pay it forward? Our challenge to you: Start with one or more of these suggestions, or check our blog for even more ideas:
